Medical Malpractice Commission Testimony

to the Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine (NEOUCOM). Our talented faculty, staff and students distinguish NEOUCOM as a leader in medical education and research, and as an outstanding place to learn and work.

At NEOUCOM, medical education means more than clinical competence. Medical students are trained in a variety of settings, including major medical centers, community hospitals, health departments and clinics, to expose them to the needs of the communities in which they will serve. All of our graduates, regardless of specialty, have a solid background in community and public health. They understand that the health of their patients is directly related to the health of their community. I invite you to learn more about NEOUCOM programs, such as the Ambulatory Care Experience, Human Values in Medicine, and the Center for Studies of Clinical Performance, which help to advance not only the science of medicine but also the art of healing.

NEOUCOM is part of a consortium that includes eight major teaching hospitals, three state universities, additional affiliated hospitals and one public health department. Unlimited opportunities for professional and personal growth exist within this collaborative environment. NEOUCOM faculty form ties with consortium university faculty across scientific disciplines to conduct groundbreaking research involving liquid crystal technology and polymer science. On the Rootstown campus, focused research efforts have yielded novel treatments for herpes, bone disease and high cholesterol.

Through our combined efforts, we can significantly improve the health and well being of Ohio’s citizens.

Thank you for your interest in NEOUCOM. I invite you to learn more about our College by exploring this Web site.
