Prospective Students

The Northeastern Ohio Univeristies College of Medicine offers several routes to admission for those seeking a doctor of medicine degree. Students may apply for B.S./M.D., direct entry or transfer admission. The College of Medicine's combined B.S./M.D. program is one of the largest B.S./M.D. programs in the country. High school students admitted to the B.S./M.D. program receive a reserved seat in medical school while completing their undergraduate requirements at one of the partner universities that make up the NEOUCOM consortium: The University of Akron, Kent State University and Youngstown State University. Undergraduate requirements can often be completed in two years, allowing students to complete their medical degrees in as few as six years.

The College of Medicine also offers a direct entry route to medical school for students who have completed their premedical studies at another college or university. Typically, 20 percent of our first-year medical school students are admitted to the College of Medicine through direct entry admission. Transfer students from other medical schools are considered for admission on a space available basis.

The Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Pharmacy works in partnership with The University of Akron, Kent State University, Youngstown State University and Cleveland State University to offer the doctor of pharmacy (Pharm.D.) program. Preferential admissions agreements allow many students to complete their pre-pharmacy studies at one of these universities and then apply to the four-year doctor of pharmacy program at the Colleges' Rootstown campus.  A direct-entry admissions option is also available for students seeking a doctor of pharmacy degree. To request additional information about the doctor of pharmacy program, please visit the Prospective Student Form.
