Financial Planning Seminar for the Graduating Physician

Program directed to: M4 students

Date: March 31, 2009

As a new physician, you're going to be juggling many priorities. This includes complex financial matters. Conducted by financial experts, the financial planning seminar will offer insight into personal budgeting and investing your money, filing personal tax forms, dealing with life and disability and property and causalty insurance.

Lunch will be provided. Plan on being there for this important seminar!!

Pre-Exit Counseling Workshop

Program Directed to: M4 Loan Borrowers

Date: April 6, 2009

Time: 4:30-6:30

Location: Olson Lecture Hall

Decision time has come: you will need to decide what you'll do with your student loans after you graduate.  In this session we will be exploring student loan repayment and deferment options. Our goal is to help you understand the basics before you attend the formal exit counseling session. There will be a one hour presentation with time for questions and answers following.

Note: Attending this session is voluntary and does not count as your formal exit counseling.

Financial Aid Exit Counseling Session

Time: 4:30-8:00

It's hard to believe but you've reached the end of your medical school education and your student loans will be going into active repayment very soon. You probably have a lot of questions on what your next move will be. This session will answer all these questions. Please join our financial aid staff to learn about your personal loan portfolio, where you can find information on your loans online, your loan repayment and deferment/forbearance options, important deadlines and much more.

This session is mandatory for all students who received federal financial aid while attending NEOUCOM.

Financial Aid Entrance Counseling Sessions

Program Directed To: Class of 2013

Date: Varies

Time: 3:00-4:30

Location: Olson Lecture Hall

All new students or a first-time borrowers must attend an Entrance Interview session conducted by the financial aid department with Office of Admissions & Student Services before receiving any loan funds. The purpose of this session is to educate the borrower on:

  • Loan terms and conditions
  • Borrower rights and responsibilities
  • How financial aid is awarded
  • Types of financial aid available and an explanation of any terms and conditions
  • Review of the college's cost of attendance and billing information
  • Introduction to the financial literacy campaign, specifically the importance of credit on financial aid and establishing a personal budget
